The Air Force 2017 Special Tactics Officer of the Year is an Air National Guard officer. 1st Lt. Bryan Hunt, a member of the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Special Tactics Squadron, is the first Air Guardsman to receive the award.

Hunt entered the military in 2003 – his first job was as an intelligence specialist with the Florida Air National Guard’s 125th Fighter Wing. Since then he has deployed multiple times including tours with Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF – Afghanistan) and Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR – Iraq).
